Mumbai Indians demolished Kolkata Knight Riders by 8 wickets at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai on May 16, 2008 to register their fifth win in the IPL. Batting first, the Knight Riders were dismissed for a paltry total of 67 runs in 15.2 overs which the Mumbai team overhauled in 5.3 overs. This is the lowest total of the tournament so far. Mumbai never had any sort of pressure of the target and another hurricane knock by Sanath Jayasuriya (48 runs, 6X4, 3X6) ensured that the match finished hours before the scheduled time. Shoaib Akhtar and Ishant Sharma picked up 1 wicket each for the Knight Riders who were simply outplayed in every department of the game by the hosts. Mumbai are now placed fourth in the points table with 10 points from 9 games while Kolkata has slipped down to sixth spot with 10 points from 10 games.
