Mumbai Indians registered a comprehensive 92-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders in an IPL encounter played at Port Elizabeth on Monday (April 27). The opening pair of Sachin Tendulkar and Sanath Jayasuriya amassed 127 runs in just 77 balls, which set the platform for the Mumbai Indians. Master blaster Tendulkar smashed 68 off 45 balls with four sixes and six boundaries while Sri Lankan hard-hitter Sanath Jayasuriya scored 55 off 32 deliveries, hitting four sixes. Mumbai Indians scored 187 for 6 wickets in their 20 overs.
 
Chasing a massive total of 188 to win, Knight Riders were bundled out for just 95 runs in 15.2 overs. Lasith Malinga from Mumbai Indians took 3 wickets by conceding just 11 runs. With this Malinga became the leading wicket-taker in the tournament so far. Apart from Malinga, Abhishek Nayar also claimed 3 for 13 to restrict Knight Riders to 95 runs 15.2 overs. Kolkata Knight Riders had a bad start as the team lost both openers Brendon McCullum and Chris Gayle cheaply. 

After that, Knight Riders kept losing wickets at regular intervals and the entire team got out in 15.2 overs. Although Sourav Ganguly (34) and Brad Hodge (24) tried to rescue Knight Riders but in the end failed to do so. Malinga cleaned up the tail in two successive deliveries and reduced Knight Riders to 95 for nine. Last man Anureet Singh did not bat after sustaining an injury while fielding. Sachin Tendulkar was adjudged the man of the match.
