The winning streak of the Rajasthan Royals was halted by the Mumbai Indians at the DY Patil stadium on May 7, 2008. Mumbai Indians beat the Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets to register their third win in the IPL. Subsequently they are placed fifth in the points table whereas Rajasthan Royals has slipped to the second spot. Batting first the Rajasthan Royals were bowled out for a paltry total of 103 runs in 16.2 overs. 

Ashish Nehra was the pick of the bowlers for the Mumbai Indians claiming 3 wickets for just 13 runs. Raje, Bravo and Kulkarni picked up 2 wickets each whereas Pollock claimed 1 wicket. For the Rajasthan Royals barring SA Asnodkar (39 runs off 36 balls) and Shane Watson (32 runs off 20 balls) no other batsmen could even reach the double figure mark.
 
Chasing an easy total of 104 runs the Mumbai Indians never looked in any kind of trouble. The hosts reached the target for the loss of 3 wickets in 15.1 overs. Jayasuriya and YV Takawale gave the Mumbai team a sedate state putting on 41 runs for the first wicket. Later Uthappa (34 runs off 21 balls) and Abhishek Nayar (12 runs off 13 balls) guided the home team to victory. This is the second defeat for the Rajasthan Royals in the seven matches they have played so far.
