Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani has been asked by the Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC) to pay up Rs 2.43 lakh as premium for the additional Floor Space Index (FSI) that is being employed for building a helipad over the 19-storey Ambani residence, Sea Wind at Cuffe Parade. It was informed that the additional Floor Space Index will be levied equal to one per cent of the present Ready Reckoner rate, multiplied by the area constructed on the site so far.
In their report presented to the civic chief J M Phatak, the officials from the building proposal department stated that the helipad work on the rooptop of the Ambani house has already begun and as such needed to be regularized by charging a premium. Bhatnagar Ambre Khatari, who is the architect of the project, had however asked the BMC not to count the helipad while calculating FSI. But it was pointed out that it was okay to do so as per the rules as the helipad is 470 square meter above the level of the terrace.
