American-Indian Foundation is set to honor corporate honchos for their contribution in the corporate sector as well as for their commitment to philanthropic works. Reliance Industries chairman, Mukesh Ambani and GE Chairman Jaffrey Immelt will be honored this year at the foundation’s Fifth Annual Spring Gala on April 30. The gala is believed to be the biggest India-centric fundraiser in the United States.

The American-Indian Foundation has invested in more than 100 Indian NGO’s since 2001. This year as well the funds generated would go to Indian NGO’s working in the areas of public health, education and livelihood. Paul Kazarian, who is chairing the gala remarked that both Mukesh Ambani and Jaffrey Immelt are heading the companies which have contributed immensely in the economic success story of India.

The foundation has been applying philanthropic resources in a fruitful manner so as to enable the marginalized people to benefit from economic growth. Pradeep Kashyap, vice chairperson of the foundation remarked that despite the economic growth there are many who are lagging behind in terms of development. It is for the development of such people that the funds are directed to several Indian non-profit organizations. American-India Foundation is also going to undertake a major expansion of its vocational training initiative targeting the unemployed urban Indian youth.
