Receding user base for MTNL has become a major concern and looking into it, the company has decided to slash down broadband charges by up to fifty percent in National Capital of India. The MTNL recently announced a plan under which it will offer customers high speed (2 mbps) Internet access. Customers have to pay a monthly rental of Rs 99 for which they will get 150 MB free download.
The PSU as of now has some 2.6 lakhs broadband customers in Delhi, and with the new reduced tariff plan it aims to fetch more customers. Once, commanding monopoly in Indian telecommunications MTNL was the first to launch IPTV in the country. MTNL got accolades for launching first ever Mobile TV in India.
Interestingly, under new scheme on broadband, customers would be able to opt a monthly rental scheme of Rs 149 where they will get a free download of 400 MB. The company source reveals that these plans will be available from August 15. On the other hand MTNL has reduced the tariff plan by 34% from Rs 899 to 599. However, this plan would be available from 1st September and not from August 15.
