The South Africa-based multinational mobile telecommunications company, MTN has appointed the Avian Media, a specialist communications consultancy in India, to look after its media relations in the country. At present this South African telecom giant is in talks with the Reliance Communications of Anil Ambani for a possible, powerful merger of businesses. The Avian Media has got big names in its list of clients such as aircraft maker Airbus and Porsche.

Sources inform that the Avian Media has been rendering some other services as well for MTN during the past few months. Now it has been assigned the job of a facilitator between Indian media and Johannesburg-based firm. The Indian and the South African companies have announced to extend their special merger talks till July 21. This announcement comes on the heels of the phasing out of their earlier 45-day exclusivity agreement yesterday.
