Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India skipper, preceded his South African counterpart Greame Smith to once again clinch the top notch position in the newest ICC ODI batsmen ranking. Dhoni holds 803 rating points in his kitty due to an unwavering performance and this even includes the 76 and 71 in the previous two one-dayers of the on-going ODI series against Sri Lanka.

Greame Smith, with 27 points less than Dhoni, occupies the second position. Even in 2006 MS Dhoni had held the numero uno position though for a very brief duration. With 751 points, the captain of Australia Ricky Ponting holds the third rank.

Ponting is trailed by compatriot Michael Hussey and England skipper Kevin Pietersen. Everyone's favorite Sachin Tendulkar is occupying the ninth rank, whereas Yuvraj Singh is at the 18th.  At the 14th spot, Zaheer Khan is the only Indian bowler in the top 20 ODI bowlers chart with his 642 rating points.
