The Apple Inc. declared on Wednesday 5 June that it is introducing movies to its software-based online digital media store, iTunes Canada. This announcement has come almost two years after this service was already introduced in the United States. A statement issued by the company revealed that one can rent or purchase from about 1,200 films now available on the iTunes Store in Canada. The highlight is that one can purchase a movie on the very same day when its DVD version is released.
The iTunes Canada store will even include the latest releases such as Juno, I Am Legend, The Bourne Ultimatum and Cloverfield. About 200 titles are also available in high definition. In the US, Apple had declared about the launch of movies on iTunes back in 2006 and it was added that the service would soon be provided on an international scale by the coming year. But the deadline was not met. On the Canadian iTunes Store, movies will cost $9.99 for catalog titles, $14.99 for recent releases and $19.99 for new releases. High definition versions in each category are $ one more.
