German toymaker Marcel Offermann has prepared a collector’s doll resembling US presumptive Presidential Democratic nominee Barack Obama. The German toymaker is offering the Barack Obama doll in a limited edition of 999, costing $216. Offermann has earlier taken inspiration from German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Lady Diana, Dalai Lama and Pope Benedict XVI among others.
The Obama doll is 36 cm long and sports a black suit, complete with a stars-and-stripes lapel pin, a white shirt and sky-blue tie. Offermann on choosing the sky-blue- tie explained it was owing to the fact that Obama 80 percent wears it during his campaign appearances. The German toymaker is a personal fan of the Illinois senator and revealed that he was forced to adapt an off-the-shelf black doll’s head for his tribute to the presidential hopeful. However, the owner of the doll hospital at Neuss in West Germany admitted that the physical resemblance to Obama could have been closer.
