Mobile phone maker Motorola has launched its latest smartphone Droid which uses Google's Android 2.0 OS.

The Droid set runs with Google's Android 2.0 OS and is featured with both 3G and WiFi connectivity. Apart from that, the 3.7-inch screen handset comes with 16GB of memory and a 5MP camera.

The other features in this Droid set include built-in Gmail support, Maps Navigation service and capability to run multiple applications concurrently using the Android 2.0 SDK software.

Motorola's mobile devices chief Sanjay Jha said, "Droid delivers a rich consumer experience with warp-speed web browsing, a mammoth screen, and Motorola's expertise in design and voice quality."

"Combined with Android's open, flexible graphical user interface and the power of Verizon Wireless 3G network, Droid is a smartphone that simply doesn't compromise," he added.

The Droid handset will be released in the US on 6 November through Verizon.
