Motorola, American telecom major has appointed Sanjay Jha as its CEO of newly formed company Motorola Mobile Devices (MMD). Earlier, Sanjay Jha was working as COO of Qualcomm CDMA Technologies (QCT) group. Soon after his appointment he resigned from QCT. Noteworthy point is that Motorola recently has decided to establish a new entity for mobile handsets manufacturing - MMD.
Sanjay Jha, an electronic science graduate from University of Liverpool, England, has a Ph.D in his profile. Also, he was the first Indian executive to reach top post of the San Diego headquartered company. Earlier, he worked with Qualcomm as its COO and president of Qualcomm CDMA Technologies (QCT) group. Now, he is co-CEO of Motorola, and first CEO of Motorola Mobile Devices.
This 45 year old dynamic Indian started his career as a senior engineer at Qualcomm VLSI (very large scale integration) group in 1994. Soon he was promoted as senior Vice-President of Engineering in 1998. In the year 2003 he was elevated as the president of QCT in 2003. Qualcomm CEO Paul E Jacobs commented that Jha's leadership has been instrumental in growing QCT into the number one wireless semiconductor supplier.
