A latest study undertaken by the British Scientists has revealed that a child’s gender is related to the type of diet and the dietary intake of the mother. The researchers at the Oxford and Exeter Universities on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 have revealed that having a hearty appetite, eating potassium rich foods like bananas and not skipping the first meal of the day raises the chances of the mother delivering a boy.
Women, who are on a low-calorie diet at the time of conception are likely to deliver a baby girl. The study was conducted on 740 first time mothers who had not got the sex determination test done and gave the scientists detailed records of eating habits before and after they became pregnant. Fiona Mathews, a specialist in mammalian biology at the Exeter University who led the research, remarked that it is for the first time that a study has established a clear link between mother’s diet and the gender of her infant.
