Entrepreneur Vince Broady claims to have created the next revolution in social-networking called moment which may also be described as a new type of electronic-scrapbook that combines pictures, text and everything digital to create a ‘moment’.
A Moment is a collaborative effort where friends or even strangers can together share their individual experiences for a common event. To illustrate this point, one or two friends can provide videos and photos of a moment and another may add a verbal description of the event.
A moment can also be for the future: it can be for an event that is yet to take place and can describe one’s anticipation or excitement about an event that is yet to come. The moment can also be for a continuous event, such as ‘my new car’ in which users with new cars can continually contribute to the moment.
Broady has also requested The New York Times, Time Inc, and Hachett Filipacchi Media U.S.’s Road and Track, to put together pre-packaged moments to help jump-start the web-site. In a presentation, he showed a New York Times ‘moment’ of Barcelona which combines pictures, text and restaurant suggestions of the city which gives you a brief idea of the capabilities of this new idea.
Broady aims to target an audience of 15-45 year-olds. However, because of the budget-strapped economy, he says funds are hard to come by but he has managed to put together just enough to launch the site. In any case its growth may be stunted for some-time to come till he receives more funding.
All this will be available in the website thismoment.com which is in its beta stage. Users of Facebook and iPhones too can avail this facility too with their current login IDs.
