Mohun Bagan registered their maiden victory in I-League soccer defeating Viva Kerala by 2-0 on Monday.
The city giants showcased a dull game, executing poor passes and exhibiting lack of consistency, with their strength dwindling by the absence of four key players including Jose Barreto.
The first goal was the result of a faux pas by Viva custodian E.C.Sharath who was error-prone throughout the 90 minutes. He failed to properly grip Bagan Right wingback Surkumar Singh's rasping grass-cutting shot from about 28 yards and Snehashish Chakraborty hammered home a left footer.
Mathan doubled the lead for Bagan as he latched on to a Edeh Chidi centre and put the ball into the net.
Mohun Bagan has moved to the seventh slot with three points after Monday’s victory. Viva are yet to open their account after two matches and are at the bottom in the list.
