Ace Malayalam actor Mohanlal will soon have one more feather in his cap of awards. This seasoned actor, who has delivered numerous wonderful movies in Malayalam, and a few in Tamil, has been chosen as the recipient of the Sree Chithira Tirunal award for the year 2009.
The award, which has been given away by Sree Chithira Tirunal Trust as a tribute to former King of Travancore, is a cash prize worth Rs. 100,000 along with a citation.
T Raveendran Thampi, the chairman of Sree Chithira Tirunal Trust, disclosed this news at a press conference which was held in Thiruvananthapuram. The award, which was created in 2006, is meant for honouring those individuals who have rendered excellent and precious contributions to fields of art, science, technology, literature, medicine, education and cinema.
Agricultural scientist M S Swaminathan, ISRO chairman G Madhavan Nair and National Security Advisor M K Narayanan were the earlier recipients of the award.
