As per a new Australian study, drinking of alcohol even in moderate quantity can augment the possibility of one developing cancer of the breast, bowel, throat, mouth and so on.  The report of this study was released by the Cancer Institute of New South Wales recently and it stated that having alcohol in moderation also can trigger a cancer. The study substantiated its point by underscoring that even having just two pegs a day heightened the risk of mouth cancer by 75 per cent in both the sexes.

About 600 pieces of international research were reviewed in this study, which also carried out international audit of cancer and alcohol research. The objective behind this study was to find out what really is causing an increase in the number of cancer cases around the world. A point to be noted is that this report does not make any distinction between wine and other alcohols like beer or spirits.

Talking about this study, Jim Bishop, Chief of the Institute informs that the chance of developing cancer is less at low alcohol intake, but increases with an increase in intake level. Bishop also pointed out that though wine is considered as beneficial for cardiac problems, there is absolutely no advantage of alcohol incase of cancer.
