This has always been an issue with consumers; every time they change their service provider, they have to change their number. Now, under mobile number portability (MNP) there would be freedom of retaining the number even after changing their service providers. The government has finalized the details about the policy in this regard.
 
According to a report published in the Economic Times, telecom minister A Raja soon be announcing the methodology for the implementation of MNP in coming days. However, the decision may come within Friday, according to some sources in telecom ministry. The news has been anticipated for quite long time, and the things like this were on air for quite long.
 
The big issue with mobile subscribers has been that around half of them are not happy with their service providers and want to change their service provider without changing their numbers. And, government now looking at their issue has decided to offer the facility under which they would be able to retain their number despite change in service provider.
