Major tractor production company Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) is looking for a deal with Italian 2-wheeler company Malaguti Moto to start a joint venture. M&M has already entered into 2-wheeler production after buying up Kinetic’s two-wheeler business for Rs 120 crore. However, for M&M, any deal with Italian major Malaguti would be an additional advantage.
M&M is looking to forge ‘alliances’ with several global players to produce high-end and low and middle end motorcycle /scooter. The ambitious project is towards supplementing Kinetic range products. Similarly, M&M strategically will use its Kinetic portfolio for global partnerships as the starting point.
M&M in collaboration with firms from Europe and America is planning to cater high-end customers, and with Chinese company's' collaboration it would cater to the needs of lower and middle-end customers. M&M is reported to be negotiating with Loncin, which is the second largest motorcycle maker in China for collaboration.
