To celebrate success of Indian Diaspora and unite them for better India, mini Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) has started at Singapore. The glittering inaugural ceremony of the mini Pravasi Bharatiya Divas was symbolic of Indian Diaspora and their success.

India's Minister for Overseas Affairs Vayalar Ravi on his inaugural speech said the 30 million-strong Indian diaspora across the globe is making their presence felt economically, socially and politically in the countries wherever they are living. He said that they could play crucial role in India's growth.

Ravi addressed more than 700 delegates. He said that Indian diaspora reached out and helped India when it was in the throes of its worst economic crisis in the early 1990s. Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister S. Jayakumar (chief guest) said that the PBD in Singapore is a reflection of the excellent bilateral relations shared by the two countries.

Singapore has a huge number of Indian diaspora. Nearly 3,500 Indian companies are registered in the city state. Also, the role of these could not be ignored in the growth of Singapore. All of Singapore tops leaders will be addressing the formal sessions of the PBD conference.
