Militants on Saturday, June 14, 2008 fired a rifle grenade at the Civil Secretariat, injuring two persons. Amongst the two injured, one is a CRPF constable. P Tripathy, CRPF spokesman revealed that the militants fired one grenade towards the Civil Secretariat but the explosive landed near Neelam Cinema.    
 
Today’s grenade attack was the first attempt in several years to target the Civil Secretariat. The militants have in the past have regularly carried out grenade attacks in the state, targeting security forces. The identity of the other injured however could not be ascertained immediately. According to the CRPF spokesman, the grenade was probably fired from Suthrashahi locality. The area has now been cordoned off.
