Tellme, a subsidiary of Microsoft Corporation, has introduced an application for the Blackberry recently that permits users to speak commands into their smart phones to search for businesses, know about movie timings, inquire about traffic and make other queries. The procedure is very simple. The users will have to first download the program and then push their phone's green ‘talk’ button. Thereafter, they are required to utter the name of a business, type of business or the keywords weather, movies, traffic, map or driving directions.
Through the global positioning system, the application will find out where the user is located and thereafter transfer the information derived from Microsoft’s search engine to the smart phone's screen. Along with this, the user will also get links to call, guidance on direction, buy movie tickets and other related actions. For the time being, this program runs on some of Research in Motion Ltd.'s newer BlackBerry models. Tellme, which was acquired by Microsoft in 2007 for $800 millions, has reveled that versions for Helio, Windows Mobile and Apple Inc.'s iPhone devices are in the pipeline.
