Microsoft's ‘Halo: Reach’, the new video gaming console has swept $200 million from the first day of its sales, the company announced on Thursday. The device was launched for sale on September 14, 2010.

Microsoft’s much-touted gaming console ‘Halo: Reach’ comes in the ‘Halo’ series line-up. The Halo series is a successful video gaming line which had sold over 34 million copies in less than 10 years and has so far sold for $2 billion.

"That's more than any game, any movie, any entertainment experience that was launched in 2010," Phil Spencer, Vice President of Microsoft Game Studios, said at the Tokyo Game Show when talking about the ‘Halo: Reach’.

The success of Halo: Reach has now created luring interest in Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox Live, an online game.

Meanwhile, Microsoft’s much-awaited gaming device ‘Kinect’ is also set to hit markets on November 4.

‘Halo: Reach’ is a shooter video game, which was developed by Bungie released by Microsoft Game Studios for the Xbox 360 console. However, this would be the final gaming device produced by Bungie in Halo line-up as Microsoft takes over to develop gaming consoles under Halo.
