With the aim of combating competition from Apple, Microsoft Corp has launched the Zune 3.0, its new media player software. This new software, which can be downloaded from Zune.net, offers users a new experience when listening to music on their computers. The subscription of the new version 'MixView' costs 15 US dollar per month. The Zune 3.0 incorporates all the features which are available in Apple's iTunes' Genius. Like Genius, Microsoft's Zune 3.0 has the capability to generate playlists automatically. Besides these, the new software can make additional music recommendations in accordance with the music library of your system.
One of the features that separate the new software from Genius is that its algorithm engine can draw from a social community. As soon as you download Zune 3.0 software, you are identified in Zune's social community through the user name. Moreover, images of listeners from Zune Social Community will appear automatically along with the recommended song. However, to get the full version of the song one has to subscribe Zune Pass. If some one subscribes Zune Pass, he/she can download unlimited number of songs from Zune's market place. Zune market place is an online music and video store.
