Microsoft Corp’s Xbox Kinect has made an impressive sale of 8 million units in just 60 days of its launch, the company said. The company has overtaken its set target of 5 million units.
 
The gaming console Xbox Kinect has also surpassed the sales figure of its rival Sony’s Move.
 
“This has been the biggest holiday and the biggest year ever for Xbox,” chief executive Steve Ballmer said in a statement.
 
“Your Xbox is becoming the hub of your living room It is your gaming system, but it's your movie, it's your TV experience, it's a TV show, and it's your sporting event,” he added.
 
Microsoft’s Xbox Live has added more to the company’s success. According to the company, a new member joins Xbox Live in every two seconds. With Xbox Live, the users can play videogames with other players online. This also lets users connect to websites and download content.
 
Xbox Kinect is a controller-free gaming console, which can be commanded by gestures and spoken command. Major competitors of Kinect are Nintendo’s Wii Remote, Wii MotionPlus, Sony’s PlayStation Move, PlayStation Eye motion control and PlayStation 3.
