In order to combat Google in terms of Internet searches, world's leading IT major Microsoft has planned to offer redeemable points to its consumers for using its search services. The new programme named SearchPerks will give tickets to those who enroll into it and use the Microsoft's Live Search service. The tickets offered by Microsoft will help the users to have various incentives like airline miles, music downloads and games for Microsoft's XBox video game system.
Earlier this year, Microsoft also launched a programme called Live Search Cashback. As per this programme, the customers who used Microsoft's search service for buying products were promised cash rebates. The newly launched SearchPerks programme will prove out to be very beneficial for Microsoft. The company found that more and more people are willing to use Live Search when redeemable points are offered.
The new SearchPerks programme launched to gauge the web traffic, does not track the type of searches people make. It only counts the number of searches being made. At the initial moment, this new programme is limited to the first 2,50,000 users. Microsoft has not announced how many points will be required to fulfill the criteria of claiming the prizes. The new facility from Microsoft will only be available for Internet Explorer 6.
