Incase you are thinking of purchasing a computer having Microsoft’s Operating System (OS) XP, then be prepared to opt for an enhanced Vista instead. This is because Microsoft XP will go off the market from 30 June onwards. Those grumbling about shelling out extra bucks for purchasing new hardware for the Vista operating system do not have much choice actually. Vista will come pre-installed with their branded machines.

It was a year ago that Microsoft declared Windows XP is going off market from January 2008 onwards. The deadline was however shifted by six months to 30 June. This time around, Microsoft Company states that there will not be any more change in the schedule. In reality what all this connotes is that if you are planning to purchase a low cost computer then you can get XP till 2010, whereas in an unbranded one you get XP till January 2009. But incase you desire a branded computer costing over Rs 20,000 then you will have to settle for Vista.
