In order to upgrade its Live Search service, Microsoft Corp has entered into a deal with Sun Microsystems. Under the new agreement, MSN's toolbar will have the Java software of Sun Microsystems. Microsoft has been suffering losses in online search market while its rival, Google is doing a great business. Microsoft has taken number of initiatives to revive its business including offering cash back to users who use its Live Search to buy products but failed.
The new deal with Sun Microsystems is likely to help Microsoft to elevate its Live Search service to a considerable extent. The Java deal is supposed to take Microsoft's service to million of users as the software remains installed in many of the PCs. The internet explorer users who will down load Java for the first time will be offered MSN tool bar that includes Live Search.
According to the general manger Microsoft's Search Business Group, Brad Goldberg, Microsoft has tied-up with Sun Microsystems to expand the distribution of Live Search. He also informed that Lenevo's new computer will be preloaded with Microsoft's tool bar. However, nothing has been disclosed regarding the amount of the Microsoft-Sun deal. The two companies have not mentioned about the duration of the partnership.
