Microsoft chief executive, Steve Ballmer remarked on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 that Microsoft Inc has no plans to raise the $44 billion Yahoo bid. Speaking at a conference in Milan, Italy, Ballmer asserted that ‘we know what yahoo is worth’. He further remarked that Microsoft is ready to move ahead alone without yahoo, if the Internet Company’s board rejected it. Ballmer however did not explain, what he meant by moving forward.
Yahoo’s first quarter performance is out and the Internet Company has surpassed earnings and revenues which were estimated by analysts. Steve Ballmer was hence asked the question if Microsoft would raise its bid after the positive performance by Yahoo. On being asked whether Microsoft would make a bid for Google, Steve Ballmer replied that he does not think that the Internet Company would accept it for regulatory reasons, among other things.
