Microsoft has launched the latest version of Internet Explorer, the world’s most popular web browser on Thursday (19th March). According to Microsoft the latest version of Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) is faster, more user-friendly and more secure than previous versions. Microsoft also claims that IE8 offers the best security features than any browser and can block two to four times as many malicious sites as the competing browsers.

The new IE8 features an “Accelerators”, which allow surfers to perform common tasks, such as looking up an address on a map, without navigating first to a separate website. Web users can also keep an eye on their favorite sites by using “Web Slices”, which are stored in the redesigned favorites bar and flash when a site is updated.

Currently, Internet Explorer is used as a main browser on around 67 per cent of the world’s computers. It has declines from around 91 per cent in 2004, after arrival of other browsers like Mozilla’s Firefox, Apple’s Safari and Google’s Chrome. Internet Explorer 8 is available as a free download from the company's official website.
