Michael Phelps, the defending champion, is on the precise path to win all the golds in the Olympics. Again the American lad proved himself when he grabbed the gold medal in the 200-Meter Individual Medley after touching the wall in 1:54.23 min. With that time-taken, he has broken his own record of 1:54.80min set at the U.S. trials in July.
This medal is Phelps’ sixth gold medal at the Beijing Olympics. Phelps easily conquered the rivals Laszlo Cseh of Hungary and teammate Ryan Lochte in the event. While Cseh grabbed the silver medal in a time of 1:56.52min, Lochte received the bronze medal in 1:56.53min. This competition was the 21st world record set during the swimming competition.
