The International Olympic Committee has authorized the organization of mini-Olympic games in Mexico.

In order to celebrate the bicentenary occasion, Mexico has planed to host a small-scale version of the Olympic Summer Games in 2010. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has approved the proposal on October 12, 2008. The announcement of the approval came from the chairman of the International Olympic Committee, Jaques Rogge. According to president of the Pan American Sports Organization, Mario Vasquez Rana the time and date of the Olympic event is supposed to be finalized at the beginning of 2009.
 
Mr Rana thanked IOC for approving the proposal of hosting the Olympic Games during the bicentenary celebration of the country. The authorization of ICO has allowed Mexico to witness one of the greatest international events of the world.  He also said that the event will have the best athletes of Mexico. Mr Mario Vasquez Rana was attending the inauguration of the 3rd Convention of Pan-American Sport at Acapulco. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the President of Mexico Felipe Calderón and ICO president Jaques Rogge.
