A Metrolink commuter train collided head-on with a Union Pacific Corp. freight train near Chatsworth district in Los Angeles, California on September 12, 2008 killing at least 10 people in the process. Addressing a press conference, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said that the number of casualties in the accident will probably grow as the victims were still being pulled out from the wreckage.

 

The Mayor informed that scores of commuters got injured in the train collision and that the number is likely to cross even 100.' Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa then added, 'We are in the rescue phase at this point and doing everything we can to get the critically injured to the hospital.'
