The Hyderabad-based construction and infrastructure development company, Maytas Infra Limited has bagged Rs 169.5-crore project from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board for the construction of Godavari Drinking Water Supply plant. The entire water supply project will be executed by Maytas in collaboration with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Kirloskar Brothers Limited. The total value of the project is Rs 809.62 crore of which Maytas bagged 20 percent (Rs 169.5 crore).
The water supply project includes the transmission of 735 million litres per day treated Godavari water from the clear water reservoir at Kondapak to the master balancing reservoirs at Ghanpur. In order to execute the plan, a 58 km-long pipeline will be set up. Apart from it, a clear water reservoir of 80 million litre (ml) capacity will be set up at Kondapak. The joint venture company will also build up a master balancing reservoir of 150 ml capacity at Ghanpur and an electrical sub-station at Kondapak.
Earlier this year, Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation had awarded Maytas Infra Rs 44.88-crore contract for providing water supply distribution system in the Gajuwaka area of Visakhapatnam district. The recent Godavari Drinking Water Supply Scheme is likely to improve the portfolio of the Hyderabad-based construction company.
