Business magazine Forbes in its latest list of 100 most powerful women has listed UP CM Mayawati, and UPA Chairwomen Sonia Gandhi. Arguably, the UP chief minister's political success and prowess is being recognized nationally. Her latest moves in national politics are indicative of her becoming a major player in national politics. She has been ranked 59th in the list.
On the other hand, UPA chairwomen Sonia Gandhi too is included in the list. She is ranked 21st; last year she was ranked 6th in the list. Another Indian women figuring in the list is Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, chief of Pharma giant Biocon. This time she is ranked 99th in the Forbes' list of the most powerful women across the globe.
Most of the women included in the list in top ten are from USA. According to Forbes, the world's most powerful woman is German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Other than Angela Market, other 10 powerful women are Sheila C. Bair (US), Indira Nooyi (US), Angela Braly (US), Cynthia Carroll (UK), Irene B. Rosenfeld (US), Condoleezza Rice (US), Ho Ching (Singapore), and Ann Lauvergeon (France).
