Union Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee has ordered for an investigation to be conducted on the train collision which happened between Goa Express and Mewar Express near Mathura. This has claimed the lives of 15 people and left several injured. She has even announced Rs.500,000 as compensation for the family of those who were killed.
 
"I have ordered to set up a high level committee to inquire about the incident. The committee will look into the matter and give me reports. The railways will also give Rs.5 lakh compensation to the families of those deceased," Banerjee said in Kolkata.
 
The incident took place around 5 a.m. when the Goa Express crashed into the stationary Mewar Express from behind at an outer signal, at about 55 km from Mathura. Both the trains were heading for Delhi.
 
This has left about 50 people injured. It is reported that several people have been trapped inside the wreckage.
