M.C. Mary Kom will be spearheading India's challenge in the women's boxing event in the third Asian Indoor Games in Hanoi.
Four-time world champion Mary Kom will open her campaign against Ting Lo Yueh of Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals of 46 kg on Sunday, at the Bac Ninh Indoor Stadium in Hanoi.
The other Indians in the race include Chhoto Loura in 51 kgs category, Laishram Sarita Devi in 54 kgs category, N Usha in 57 kgs category and Kavita Goyat in 64 kgs category.
Chhoto will face Nilmini Kumari of Sri Lanka in the quarterfinals of the 51kg section while Sarita is to take on Ayako Minowa of Japan in the quarterfinals of the 54kg.
In the 57 kgs, Usha will meet Koroleva Oxana of Kazakhstan while Kavita Goyat will start against Huong Nguyen Jhi Jhu in the semi-final.
For the first time women's boxing has been included in Asian Indoor Games. A total of 12 countries are participating in women's boxing. Each country is permitted to field a maximum of five boxers while hosts Vietnam can field boxers in all categories.
