Automatic transmission car models are showing lots of enthusiasm from the public and hence, India’s leading car maker, Maruti Suzuki, has planned to launch A-star Automatic in Indian market soon.

There have been a lot of automatic transmission-enabled models in the past few years such as Hyundai's i10, i20 and Verna, GM's Captiva (AT version), Honda City, Mahindra Scorpio, Maruti SX4 and Ford Endeavour.

Maruti is also going to launch some other models including the automatic A-star in the coming days that will be paired with 4-speed autobox like the European version. As per the reports, the new model is expected to hit the market by the end of July.

Reports said the A-star automatic will be available for a competitive price. So, the rival Hyundai i10 automatic will see a new competitor now. It is said that the Maruti A-star Automatic will cost Rs.50,000 more than the manual variant.

An auto enthusiast said, “Drivers today are looking more and more towards a comfortable drive. The ‘stop-go-stop’ nature of traffic in cities like Mumbai, Delhi Bangalore and Calcutta has forced car buyers to look at auto transmissions. And hence don’t mind paying a bit extra, especially when it is spread over EMIs. The loss of mileage is negligible considering the fact that you anyway don’t get a good mileage in city driving.”
