The Maruti Suzuki Company, which fulfilled the Indian dream of owning a car with the introduction of its M800 almost 25 years back, is readying to soon launch an LPG variant of the model. Vendor sources divulge that it is in the coming week that the Maruti Suzuki will introduce the LPG variant of its flagship model called ‘M800 Duo’, which will cost Rs 20,000 more than its existing petrol variant.

The petrol variant of Maruti 800 costs Rs Rs 1,93,063 (ex-showroom Delhi), whereas the AC one is priced at Rs 2,13,558 (ex-showroom Delhi). The introduction of Maruti 800’s LPG variant will happen at a time when 800 is increasingly growing to lag behind other models such as Alto. Apart from this, there would also be severe competition from the impending launch of Tata’s Nano car.

The Maruti Suzuki Indian Company presently proffers LPG variants of its WagonR Duo in A2 segment and Omni LPG in C segment. It is reported that the new M800 Duo will operate on a gas mixer system based on Integrated Gas Technology, deliver a power of 35 ps @ 5000 rpm and torque of 56 nm @ 2500 rpm.

The soon to be launched M800 Duo will emit 10 per cent less carbon dioxide than the petrol variant. As per sources, the Maruti 800’s LPG variant will be produced at the Gurgaon facility. The company is expected to provide all the warranty benefits, which are proffered on other car models. It is hoped by the company that the M800 LPG will help revive the dwindling sale of its flagship model.
