One of the leading carmakers, Maruti Suzuki is considering to introduce the diesel version of its SX4 car. Developed by Japanese and Italian automakers Suzuki and Fiat, Suzuki SX4 is a compact car. The car made its debut at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show and since then it has been marketed in Europe, Japan, India, South America, Australia, South Africa and North America.

Maruti Suzuki SX4 is manufactured at the Magyar Suzuki plant in Esztergom, Hungary as well as in Japan. As per reports, the price of the diesel version will be about Rs. 40,000-50,000 higher than the petrol variant. The diesel version will be equipped with a 1.6-litre turbodiesel engine, which will come out from company’s parent arm.

The company said that the diesel engine of Maruti Suzuki SX4 is fuel-efficient and will help the owners to save extra bucks. The diesel version will also offer superior and roomy interior just like Suzuki SX4 petrol. In fact, the diesel version will have all the attributes that are found in petrol version.

The SX4 was initially released as a five-door hatchback body style, marketed as the SX4 Crossover. In 2007, a sedan model called the SX4 Sport made its debut at the New York Auto Show and has been released in Japan, India and a few Eastern European markets.
