The market leader of passenger cars in India, Maruti Suzuki, on Wednesday reported a 22.6% increase in its sales in June, compared to the same month in 2008.
The company sold 75,109 units, including export of 13,336 units, this June as compared to 61,247 in the same month last year.
This is also Maruti's highest-ever monthly export volume with overseas sales increasing more than 175%.
Maruti's sales in the compact car (A2) segment comprising Alto, Wagon-R, Zen, Swift, Ritz and A-Star grew 22.2 percent. The company sold 46,156 units in this segment as against 37,767 units sold in June last year.
The mid-sized (A3) segment comprising SX4 and D'zire grew 5 percent but that of the C segment - Omni and Versa - fell 1.1 percent.
