Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest passenger car manufacturer has reported an increase of 33.4% increase in sales for July to 78,074 units when comapred to 58,543 units in the same month last year. Of these 10,546 cars were exported.
Maruti had reported a 25.3% surge of net profits to Rs.583.5 crore 2009-10 Q1 and said net sales grew 34% to Rs.6,340 crore in 2009-10 Q1.
The sales in the compact car (A2) segment comprising Alto, Wagon-R, Zen, Swift, Ritz and A-Star grew 38.3%. The company sold 48,115 units in this segment as against 34,795 units sold in July last year.
The company also logged record sale of models in its mid-sized (A3) segment comprising SX4 and D'zire. A3 model sales grew 51.5% to 9,101 cars.
Sales of Maruti 800 have witnessed a fall by 43.5% to 2,796.
