Maruti Suzuki MD Shinzo Nakanishi has said that Maruti A-Star Concept car would be launched in October this year. The car is designed by Saurabh Singh and Rajesh Kumar Gogu of Maruti Suzuki India. The major attraction of the car is it has five-doors, and a 1,000 cc petrol engine. The company aims to launch it in the month of October and start exporting it from December or January.
 
Developed by Maruti Suzuki Ltd's research and development (R&D) team in Gurgaon in India, A-Star is considered as the global India car. Its 1000 CC petrol engine is aimed at the European market. Nakanishi informed that production of the car will be done at the company's Manesar facility in Haryana. Automobile reviewers have reviewed it as sleek, smart and fun to drive car.
 
Maruti Suzuki has entered into an agreement with Nissan to sell A-Star under the latter's brand name in the US market. Nakanishi further said that Maruti's manufacturing capability has reached a level where Suzuki wants to make small cars for Europe exclusively in India. Nakanishi said that they are working on price of the car.
