The New Zealand cricket board has appointed Mark O’Donnell as the assistant coach to Andy Moles for the soon-to-be-held cricket series against India. Before his new appointment, O’Donnell was serving as the coach of Auckland cricket team. While commenting on the appointment of O’Donnell, Auckland chief executive Andrew Eade said that both Andy and Mark will offer great help to the New Zealand team to counter India in the home series.

Praising O’Donnell's ability, Eade stated that he has capability to easily work with the players which made him ideal for the job. Meanwhile during the absence of O’Donnell, Auckland will hire a caretaker coach. Former Test opener Matt Horne and former Zimbabwe leg-spinner Paul Strang are the possible contenders to replace Mark. Both Strang and Horne are currently coaching Auckland A team.

New Zealand versus India series will start from Wednesday (February 25). Druing the 42-day tour India will play five ODIs, three Tests and two Twenty20 internationals. The tour will begin with a Twenty20 match in Christchurch. While Kiwis will be trying to restrict India, the young brigade of MS Dhoni will try to register series victory on New Zealand soil. Considering the current form of the Indian team, it can be said that it will be a tough series.
