For the first time in 46 years, the personal belongings of legendary actress Marilyn Monroe are set to go under the hammer, in two separate auctions. At Bonhams and Butterfields auction in LA, Monroe’s clothing, furniture and unseen documents will be auctioned. On the other hand in Julien’s auction at Las Vegas, over 100 vintage photographs of the actress, personal effects and never-before-seen films footage will be auctioned.
Darren Julien of Julien’s Auction and an expert at ranking the salability of celebrities remarked that there is no match of Monroe. She revealed that about a year ago, they had an umbrella of Monroe, which they had expected would go at 10,000 or 20,000 dollars; the umbrella however went for a whopping 49,000 dollars. Experts believe that the double bill are the most noteworthy bonanza of Monroe memorabilia since Christie's New York sold off items from the blonde's estate in 1999, raising a whopping 13.5 million dollars.
