The photographs of the late Hollywood actress Marilyn Monroe which were taken for Vogue magazine in 1962 have been sold for nearly 150,000 dollars. The enchanting Hollywood beauty had died in the same year. A total of 36 images which were shot by Bert Stern were bought by anonymous buyers from Christie's auction house on December 17.
The auctioned photographs were among the 100 images of the Hollywood actress being offered for sale at Christie's. The images are believed to have been the last professional photographs of the star. After her death, the Vogue ran those photographs as a memorial feature. Meanwhile, the images taken by artist Andy Warhol, Andre De Dienes and acclaimed celebrity photographer Richard Avedon are yet to go for sale.
One of the most sensuous Hollywood actresses, Marilyn Monroe is remembered for her performances in films like 'Some Like It Hot' and 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes'. Monroe was ranked as the sixth greatest female star of all time by the American Film Institute in 1999. Starting her career in modeling, Monroe made her debut in films in 1946.
