The researchers at Ohio State University have claimed that marijuana may improve memory and help to combat Alzheimer's disease. The team of researchers has discovered that there are certain elements present in marijuana which benefits the aging brain by reducing the inflammation of the brain. The study also found out that the elements of marijuana may also play active role by stimulating the formation of new brain cells. The researchers suggest that the marijuana elements can be used for developing drugs to cure the Alzheimer patient.
Alzheimer disease causes massive memory loss especially during old age. The cause of the disease has not been known yet. It is assumed that chronic inflammation in the brain contributes to memory impairment. As a result, if a drug can restrict the inflammation of brain, it can somehow sort out the problem of Alzheimer's disease. Although researches are going on but most of the healthcare officials and doctors put Alzheimer's disease in the list of incurable diseases.
Informing further about the use of marijuana in treating Alzheimer disease, the researchers stated that they cannot reject the possibilities of the contribution of marijuana smoking in healing the disease. However, they stressed the need of a legal drug using the properties of marijuana to cure memory-loss disease. The researchers at Ohio State University are reported to have carried out the experiment on rats in a controlled environment.
