It’s been around for quite some time, but MapmyIndia’s Road Pilot GPS is making waves only now. Available for only Rs. 7990, the Road Pilot is your one stop for all navigation needs.

The device is bestowed with MapmyIndia’s proprietary maps of 620 Indian cities, 576,000 towns and villages, 30,000 tourist locations and 2 million unique destinations. Anybody with a device like this is sure to never get lost again. Of course, maps alone don’t make a GPS navigation device so here we have a nice big 3.5-inch touch screen that offers turn-by-turn voice guidance. There is also a snooze mode to conserve power and a sleep mode to help boot the device quickly.

But what makes the device special is that it is a one-time investment. No further data charges apply once you turn it on in your hands for the first time. While many contend a GPS enabled phone is a much more logical navigation device, the Road Pilot offers far better connectivity because it does not rely on GSM network coverage and can work remarkably well even in the remotest of places.

“With the launch of the Road Pilot, MapmyIndia has entered a new market for GPS navigators. The new navigator offers all the features of a sophisticated GPS navigator along with India’s best and most accurate maps.” Rakesh Verma, MD, MapmyIndia said.
