Soon after Anwar Ibrahim rejoined the Malaysian parliament on Thursday, August 28 after a decade long absence, he came at blows with the government he vows to oust, leading a walkout of the opposition.
Anwar Ibrahim once happened to be the protégé of the ex-Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, but was expelled from office on allegations of sodomy and corruption. Ibrahim maintains that these accusations were part of a controversy to destroy his career.
Upon returning to the parliament and being sworn-in as the leader of the opposition, Anwar Ibrahim said, 'I feel vindicated. I feel great that I am back.' This has transpired just a day before the government was planning to introduce its 2009 budget that is widely expected to contain populist spending measures.
