Mahindra Holidays and Resorts has recently announced to come up with 1,000 more holiday homes under its newly-launched Homestays brand. Mahindra Holidays and Resorts, which is part of Mahindra group, has planned the recent move to explore the domestic tourist sector of the country. Speaking to media, company managing director Ramesh Ramanathan said that Homestays holiday homes will allow tourists to stay in Indian homes instead of hotels. He added that that new concept has been launched to make the tourists feel the home-like experience even in holiday outings.

Under the Homestays scheme, the tourists will be able to experience the luxury and comfort of home in select locations. The tourists will be allowed to experience the cultural traditions, history and everyday life of the people of surrounding areas apart from providing them with local home-cooked food. Currently, Mahindra Homestays manages 50 properties across 10 states including Delhi, Rajasthan, Kerala and Himachal Pradesh.  The tariff of Mahindra Homestays homes starts from Rs.1,200 that includes taxes and breakfast.

Mahindra Homestays was launched in July last year with a view to cater to the needs of the foreign tourist. But now the company is trying to attract the middle class domestic tourists. According to Ramesh Ramanathan, the company has planned to introduce 120 Homestays units by the end of current year and 1,000 in the next five years. He also informed that the company has entered into agreements with Kerala tourism department and is in the process of negotiation with Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Uttarakhand and Delhi.
